About Perry Village Ohio

“The Village of Perry is tucked away in Lake County in northeast Ohio, and along with North Perry, part of Perry Township. It’s small in physical size, covering only 2.27 square miles, and in population, home to an estimated 1,623 residents. It’s a suburb of Cleveland, 38 miles northeast of the city up the shore of Lake Erie, and is a 38-minute drive away from the city. Perry’s namesake is the Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who famously scored a victory over the British fleet during the War of 1812 in the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. It is the hometown of Brandon Staley, who was just recently named the head coach for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers.

Perry’s small town, rural, homey feel makes it a terrific place to raise a family. 85% of citizens own their own home, and the median household income is $75,132. Perry is also appealing due to the low crime rate (70% below the state average).

For work, the most common industries that employ their citizens are manufacturing (24.6%), educational services (15.4%), and health care and social assistance (12.2%). Another common employer is the nearby nuclear power plant.

For those who want to get outside and enjoy some nice weather, there are two main options in the village of Perry. There’s Lee Lydic Park on the eastern edge of the village that has a dog park, a walking track, a playground, a pond for catch and release fishing, and some baseball and softball fields. And finally, there’s the R.J. Few Arboretum which wonderfully showcases some of the trees indigenous to the region.” – Perry Village
