“Painesville, Ohio received its name from General Edward Paine, who was a decorated veteran of the American Revolutionary War. It was incorporated as a city in 1902 with a population of approximately 5,024. Today, Painesville is home to an estimated 19,886 residents. 

Geographically, Painesville is in a prime location. Its northern edge is bordered by the Grand River, and it is just south of Lake Erie. A dense suburb in northeast Ohio and 30 miles northeast of Cleveland, Painesville also contains Lake Erie College and the Morley Library.  

Painesville has a wealth of industry within its 7.01 square miles. It holds several manufacturing facilities from multiple companies including Avery Dennison, Mar-Bal Corp., Lubrizol, AeroControlex, and many others. It stands to reason then that the city’s leading industry employer in manufacturing (28%). That is followed by health care and social assistance (11.9%), and retail trade (9.58%). Other large employers include the city government, the county government, and the public school systems.

There’s no shortage of things to do in Painesville. From the Craft and Antiques Co-op, which offers more than 100 vendors selling unique objects including antique and modern furniture, to the Lake Metroparks Greenway Corridor which provides trails for biking or walking, there’s something that everyone will love. History buffs or parents of young children can get a glimpse of a piece of Americana at the Painesville Railroad Museum, and sports fans can take in a race (or take the wheel themselves in go-karts available to the public) at the Lake County Speedway.
