Mayfield Heights

Incorporated as a city in 1950, Mayfield Heights, Ohio at that time had a population of 5,807 residents. Since that time, the population has more than tripled to an estimated 18,669. It is a suburb of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County in northeast Ohio, approximately 22 miles east of the city, and 25 minutes away by car. Demographically, Mayfield Heights is home to a considerable Italian population (23.9%) and became home for many Russians (6.8%) after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Hillcrest Hospital, part of the Cleveland Clinic system, is situated on the eastern edge of Mayfield Heights. It contains 500 registered beds and functions as a level II trauma center. A five-story addition was added to the hospital in 2010 that cost $163 million. It is one of the top employers in the city. In fact, 20.2% of residents work in the health care and social assistance field, which ranks it as the top industry in the city. The second-most common employment industries are educational services (10.1%) followed by retail trade (9.32%).

For recreation, there is a park, a couple of local restaurants, and a spa. Mayfield Heights City Park is great for children due to its playground, baseball diamonds, and public pool. The top two local restaurants are the Cork-N-Bottle and DiCillo Tavern. The Cork-N-Bottle offers pizza, wings, sandwiches, and its famous wedding soup. At DiCillo Tavern guests can treat themselves to a burger or the whaler fish fry. And finally, the Mind and Body Shop provides customers with massage services, as well as waxing, eyelash extensions, hair extensions, custom wigs, and installations.
