“Claridon Township, also known as “the land of steady habits”, is located in the northern central part of Geauga County, Ohio. It is bordered by the townships of Montville, Hambden, Huntsburg, Newbury, Middlefield, Burton, Munson, and Chardon. The township has a total land area of 22.6 square miles, where only 1.53% consists of water.

Its history started when the father of Claridon, known as Asa Cowles, bought 1000 acres of lots. Together with his family, they arrived and stayed in the area in 1811. Other families followed, and the number of its inhabitants increased. It was in 1885 when the Claridon Town Hall was built. The establishment of the hall resulted from the need for a place to hold public meetings and elections.
